MOBAC Reports (as necessary):
  • Report out on Mobac website revamp meeting: Katie and Kristen attended. Ashlee Wright (Admin Council President) shared a proposed hierarchy for the new website, which would consolidate much of the information on the current website and provide an improved user experience. She requested that all committees review their content on the site to determine what to add to the new public-facing site, what to keep for internal use, and what to discard. Jason Garvey, the web design consultant for PLP, asked each committee representative to send him 3 example websites to inform his designs. He will send the group 3 designs for review early in December.
New Business:
  • Review of Tech Committee content on current Mobac website: The Committee decided to move the following content to the new public-facing site: list of co-chairs and members, mission and purpose, most recent annual report, minutes and agendas. Presentations/slides/handouts from workshops will be added to the page hosting workshop recordings. Other working documents/historic materials from the Committee will be added to Basecamp.
  • We also discussed how the Committee could use the opportunity of the new website and new working platform (Basecamp) to better respond to the needs and realities of our library colleagues, including such possibilities as:
    • Holding a workshop on using Basecamp
    • Creating spaces for special interest groups (eg for threads for local librarians with Koha or ExLibris questions)
    • Hosting regular “Office Hours” where librarians/library staff can bring technology questions
    • Holding a Mobac-wide conversation on APIs and add-ons, to improve the functionalities different libraries rely on.
  • Katie will ask PLP what the plans are for providing Basecamp access to Mobac committees/member libraries.
