MOBAC Reports: 
Admin Council:
  • Discussion regarding funding requests for committee workshops – Moving forward, funding requests should be submitted to Carol Frost (PLS) and the current Administrative Council chair (Frank Wojcik). The requests will be taken up at the next meeting of the Council as a standing action item.
  • The PLP held its ‘meet and greet’ event with board members.
  • A freelance web designer will be contracted to overhaul the MOBAC website.
MOBAC Ref: The committee’s fall workshop, “Beyond the Reference Desk: Microactivism in the Library with Dr. Veronica Keiffer-Lewis” was attended by about 50 people and was well received. At Dr. Keiffer-Lewis’ request the workshop was not recorded.
SPLAMBA: The committee will host a workshop on Friday, March 23 in Watsonville on Diversity in Children’s Literature, also compiling a booklist—no poster yet
Literacy: The committee hosted “The computer in your hand: Teaching smartphone skills for work, learning & life,” a free workshop for literacy tutors and library staff on January 17 at the Marina Branch Library.
ILL: The committee will work to promote ILL throughout MOBAC. They are investigating current guidelines and practices (including promotional videos).
New Business
The committee requested a demonstration of WPL’s scheduling software at a future meeting.
SQL Training with Lynda.com postponed until following meeting.
