  • How many external microphones should we request at the next Admin Council meeting? It was decided Deborah will email the committees and inquire if a multidirectional computer mic would help them to better facilitate remote participation in meetings via Zoom as members report hearing difficulties. We quickly looked up mics that would fulfill this need and they seem to cost less than $50, and it was suggested that CNet be checked for reviews. Hopefully Kris can attend the next Admin Council meeting with the proposal because Deborah will be off.
  • Discussion to focus on a project to contribute to the MOBAC website. Deborah suggested on working on a “best practices” page for accessibility of documents on websites (screen readable PDFs and/or HTML content) in order to be ADA compliant. It was also suggested we compile a list of resources like Section508.gov’s Best Practice Library and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Overview, and Nielsen Norman Group’s free report on Usability Guidelines for Accessible Web Design. Attendees agreed this sounded like a good project, and we can focus on identifying common pitfalls, simple procedures to improve web accessibility, and areas such as screen readable content. Lynda.com has a couple videos that we could use as a starting point. It was suggested we begin this project in August, after the summer break. Homework would be to start looking at the sites mentioned above and we would watch a Lynda.com webinar as a group.
  • SQL Training with Lynda.com has been shelved at this time.
  • It was suggested we reach out to some of the members who haven’t attended recently.
